‘We have reached a critical moment as existential threats reaching our climate situation’

The Climate Change Commission on Thursday gathered all stakeholders on a one-day discussion on how to mitigate climate change and have a country that is climate resilient in the feature.
Held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ortigas, Quezon City, the first session discussing the theme: Bayanihan sa Klima, Bagong Bansang Matatag was attended by religious and ethnic groups on an Inter-Faith Dialogue.
The focus of the discussion was on creating a climate-resilient nation through the empowerment of communities and religious groups for the observance of Climate Change Consciousness Week.
Rev Charles Brown, Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, talked about the role of Catholic institutions as a state actor in mobilizing climate change.
"We have reached a critical moment as existential threats reaching our climate situation," that even Pope Paul VI who is now a saint had prophetic message when he wrote an apostolic letter in 1971 which he quoted telling the world that "another transformation is making itself felt, one with dramatic and unexpected consequence in human activity."
"Talking about exploitation of nature, humanity can easily become the victim of degradation," Brown explained.
United Nations Industrial Development Organization (Country Office Philippines), along with CCC chair Secretary Robert Eric Borje, joining the talks on how to face climate change.
