Police arrested a 23-year-old personal driver and taken a 14-year-old minor into custody following an early Friday morning street robbery along Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong City.

The incident occurred outside the China Bank branch near the corner of Kalentong Street in Barangay Daang Bakal. According to police reports, a 43-year-old pedestrian was walking when two individuals riding a Honda Click motorcycle approached him.

Investigators said the teenage passenger dismounted, threatened the victim while keeping a hand concealed inside his shirt, and demanded his bag. The minor threatened to stab the victim before forcibly seizing the bag.

The victim fled toward Haig Street to call for help, catching the attention of Mandaluyong City Police Station officers stationed nearby outside a 7-Eleven store. Responding officers gave chase, apprehending both individuals shortly after.

Police identified the adult suspect as a 23-year-old resident of Manila known as alias “John.” The 14-year-old passenger was designated as a child in conflict with the law under Philippine juvenile justice protocols.

Officers recovered the motorcycle, a screwdriver, mobile phones, clothing, personal identification cards and other effects at the scene.

Both individuals underwent medical examinations at the Mandaluyong City Medical Center before being transferred to the police station’s Criminal Investigation Unit.

The 14-year-old will be referred to the Mandaluyong City Department of Social Welfare and Development for temporary custody, counseling, and a discernment evaluation.
