President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has called for unity and cooperation among Filipinos to address the pressing issue of climate change.

The President made this call during the opening ceremony of the 16th Annual Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week.

"We all have a role to play in this mission," Marcos said in a video message.

"So we must work together, take a stance in support of our planet. Let us be involved in creating solutions to mitigate the effects of global warming and climate change," he added.

Marcos also emphasized the need for effective communication to raise awareness about the impact of climate change. He commended the Climate Change Commission for its efforts to promote this year's theme of "Bayanihan Para sa Klima: Bagong Bansang Matatag" (Unity for Climate: A Resilient and Adaptable Nation).

"I enjoin the Climate Change Commission to effectively communicate this year's theme of unity and cooperation for a more resilient and adaptable nation," Marcos said.

The President also expressed his commitment to building a "new Philippines" that is resilient to climate change.

"We have only one goal, and that is to build a new Philippines that is resilient to challenges, peaceful and safe for its citizens, and full of hope for a better future," Marcos said.

The 16th Annual Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week is being held from November 19 to 25, 2023. The week-long event aims to raise awareness about the impact of climate change and to promote sustainable practices among Filipinos.
