Motorcycle ride-hailing service provider Angkas has teamed up with SariSuki, a community selling platform, to launch the so-called Angkas Weekend Market—an initiative aimed at boosting driver partners' income stream.

Angkas said over the weekend said the new program provides partner riders and their families an avenue to use market stalls to sell their products as well as access high-quality goods at attractive prices and discounts.

"With the holiday season fast approaching, we encourage the community to support our riders and their families by exploring their unique offerings at this weekend market," Angkas CEO George Royeca said.

"By making a purchase, you're not only acquiring unique items and tasting delicious food but also contributing to the local economy, supporting these small-scale entrepreneurs," he added.

The Angkas Weekend Market on select weekends from 19 November to 31 December at the Angkas Cainta Office.

To date, Angkas has over 8 million mobile application downloads and a network of 50,000 biker-partners.

Angkas said it is committed to supporting motorcycle riders' rights by empowering and championing their causes.

The government regulators legally licensed only three players—Angkas, MOVE IT, and JoyRide—to take part in the motorcycle taxi pilot study to provide affordable, safe, and reliable transportation to thousands of daily commuters.

There was a proposal to expand the program and it already enticed seven private entities to participate.

Land Transportation Office chief, Atty. Vigor Mendoza, who is also the Vice Chair of the MC taxi technical working group, recently told reporters that there will be a thorough discussion of their proposals to avoid oversaturation of the industry.

Mendoza did not disclose the identities of the new interested companies but he noted that most of them are industry newcomers.
