Nagi Sushi, the latest addition to the Nagi Group's portfolio, celebrated its opening with an event that immersed guests into the heart of authentic Japanese dining. Highlighting the event was "The Art of Sushi Masterclass," led by chef Oshikiri.
The Art of Sushi Masterclass served as both education and culinary delight where chef Oshikiri displayed his culinary mastery in Japanese cuisine and sushi, honed through years of dedication at the Tsukiji fish market, the world's largest sushi marketplace.
Attendees had the opportunity to learn the precision of sushi knife skills, discover the perfection of sushi rice and explore the artistry behind Nagi Sushi's two distinct styles of sushi.
Chef Oshikiri's sushi-making demonstration underscored what sets Nagi Sushi apart from other sushi restaurants. Nagi Sushi selects the finest Japanese tuna and salmon for its sushi, ensuring each fish is chosen for its freshness and fat content. These top-quality ingredients are air-flown directly from Japan and meticulously processed by the chef with precision.
Nagi Sushi also takes pride in its menu, offering sushi in two distinct forms. The first is the Edomae-style, which preserves the pristine state of the fish, resulting in a melt-in-your-mouth experience with each bite. The second is the Temaki-style, expertly hand-rolled to perfection — and both of which are made fresh to order.
The restaurant also boasts of top-tier flavors and intricate layers. The seasoned sushi rice, crafted from Koshikari rice and seasoned with traditional "aka-zu" vinegar, imparts a rich umami taste to each dish. The high-quality nori, sourced from Tsutaken Shoten in Yokohama, adds a crispy texture and robust flavor that enhances the Nagi Sushi experience. Last but not least, the indispensable Hon Wasabi, sourced from Kaneku, seamlessly combines tradition and innovation to elevate the dining experience.
"Nagi Sushi is a place where you can come to experience the true essence of Japanese culture, from the food to the atmosphere," said Erickson Farillas, the man behind the Nagi Group. "We want our guests to feel like they are stepping into another world when they enter our restaurant, and we hope that they leave feeling refreshed, inspired and connected to the heart of Japan."
Nagi Sushi is located at The Shops at Ayala Triangle in Makati City.
