The latest entertainment brouhaha: Sorsogon Governor Edwin "Boboy" Hamor announced to his constituents on 1 October that he had prevented the band Kamikazee from playing at a fiesta event over what he said was the band's "attitude problem."
According to reports, the governor had requested the band, which was slated to play alongside other invited bands Inago and I Belong To The Zoo in Casiguran town in Sorsogon, to have pictures taken at a new local tourist attraction. But the band reportedly refused, or dilly-dallied in complying with the request, angering the provincial chief executive who then asked the band to leave the province forthwith and not play anymore even if they had been paid for their gig.
"Hindi ko gusto 'to. Kaso, may attitude. Hindi na 'yun makakabalik sa Sorsogon, maniwala kayo sa akin. Maraming banda na gustong magpasaya sa atin, pero kung ganun naman ang ugali, pasensyahan tayo, okay? Inuulit ko, bayad 'yun… Pero pinauwi ko na sa airport, dun sila mag-umaga. Hindi tayo pwedeng bastusin na mga taga-Sorsogon," said Hamor in a now-viral video showing him speaking before a crowd.
Kamikazee has yet to issue a statement about the incident. But the band's vocalist, Jay Contreras, posted a cryptic message on Instagram saying only "I CHOOSE LOVE".
