BI arrests Chinese woman with fake documents
Bureau of Immigration officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 recently arrested a Chinese national who presented fake travel documents.
In a report given to BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco, BI Border Control and Intelligence Unit Head Dennis Alcedo identified the Chinese national as Zhiqun Liao, a 31-year-old female, who was arrested after she attempted to depart the country for Quanzhou, China via Malaysian Airlines.
Alcedo said that during the primary inspection, the officers noted that her passport did not contain a Philippine arrival stamp, but a stamp was instead affixed to a certificate indicating her travel record. She could not also show her Philippine visa, which she used when she entered the country or her visa extensions.
He added that upon verification of Zhiqun's travel records, it was confirmed by the BI's systems that there was no record of her supposed arrival on 15 June.
Representatives from the airline also confirmed that the flight that she allegedly took to arrive in the country never existed on their flight records.
Zhiqun's documents were forwarded to the forensic documents lab of the BI for a tertiary examination, and it was determined that the document she presented was fake.
In connection with Section 37(a)9 of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940, Zhiqun was promptly arrested and accused of violating Sections 45© and (d).
She is now detained at the BI Warden Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, pending a resolution of her deportation charges.
