TARLAC CITY — Lieutenant General Fernyl Buca revealed yesterday that soldiers from AFP Northern Luzon Command will undergo martial arts training to boost their fighting skills without the use of any firearm or weapon.

Buca said the soldiers will train in the Aikido martial arts discipline, which utilizes different circular movements and strategic positions to neutralize the opponent and redirect the force of aggression.

"The training aims to equip soldiers from both NolCom and its tenant units with crucial skills to fend off threats when traditional weaponry is not an option, particularly in scenarios where they operate beyond the secure confines of military bases," Buca said.

He added that the training program will further develop the capability of the troops to perform their mandated duties and functions.

As part of the training program, soldiers will undergo an immersive experience to master the diverse array of Aikido maneuvers.

These include the practical maneuvers, which are intended for use in real-life situations, and the elusive maneuvers, which can be used to effectively respond to a variety of challenges.
