The Philippines, led by pitcher Erica Arnaiz, completed a masterful run to capture the Junior League Softball World Series on Saturday (Sunday morning Manila time) in Kirkland, Washington.

Arnaiz struck out 15 batters from Milford, Connecticut en route to the 3-0 triumph that allowed the Bago City-powered Philippines team to rule the tournament.

It was the second time a Phl team from Negros Occidental won the title. Back in 2003, Bacolod sent a squad that ruled the meet.

The Nationals dotted the scoring with a run in the second inning and another two in the sixth. Before that Arnaiz dashed to a diving catch to halt Milford's uprising in the fifth.

It was a 7-0 sweep for the Filipino girls who represented Asia Pacific.

They first dumped Canada and five American teams representing the West, Central, Southeast, Southwest and Washington District 9 (the host state) regions.

Francis Fuentes mentored the team with Bago City Mayor Nicholas M. Yulo as backer.
