Young Spidey hailed as ‘greatest gamer’

Ezequiel "Spidey" Caulian emerged as the country's "greatest gamer" after winning the reality contest Greatest Gamer Philippines.

The 16-year-old Spidey displayed exceptional skills in a fierce competition that saw intense fights, strategic battles, and highlight-reel moments to win the P250,000 cash prize in the three-week reality show organized by Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Tiktok and Smart.

Vanessa Brown, Director for Asia Pacific of Tiktok, congratulated Spidey as well as those who displayed their talent, passion and power for the world to see.

"The Greatest Gamer Philippines has been a remarkable showcase of talent, passion, and the power of the Filipino gaming community. We extend our warmest congratulations to Spidey for his well-deserved victory and commend all the participants for their exceptional performances," Brown said.

"The competition has not only highlighted the incredible potential and dedication of Filipino gamers but also reinforced our commitment to supporting the growth of the gaming community in the Philippines."

A young talented gamer aspiring to turn pro, Spidey was full of gratitude after bagging the award. After all, his victory also got him a much-coveted spot in Smart Omega Esports' Mobile Legends: Bang Bang competitive roster.

"Thank you so much to those who support me, especially my family because they never give up on me," Spidey said.

"I am very grateful to TikTok and Smart for this opportunity to showcase the talent of Filipinos in Esports. I hope I can be an inspiration to our countrymen who want to achieve their dreams. Thank you very much."

Smart's First Vice President and Head of Prepaid and Content Lloyd Manaloto, meanwhile, is hoping that Spidey's story will inspire more gamers to chase their dreams in the booming Esports scene.

"His performance is a testament to the immense talent and skill of young Filipinos, who have the potential to dominate esports here and abroad," he said.
