The local government of Valenzuela has allowed its residents to use fireworks to usher in the New Year following a new ordinance that allows the use and sale of firecrackers, fireworks, and other legal pyrotechnic devices.

However, the Valenzuela LGU clarified that the city's residents should still follow the national government's mandate on the use of fireworks.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government, on the other hand, maintained that the policies implemented by the LGUs must be in accordance with the implementing rules and regulations of the Fire code of the Philippines and RA 7183.

The Valenzuela LGU also reminded the public to celebrate the fun and enjoyable Filipino holiday activities by practicing easy and doable healthy behaviors, prevent mishaps or accidents due to fireworks by avoiding their use and being prepared for accidents.
