New PCG commodores appointed

A total of 15 Philippine Coast Guard captains were elevated in the rank of commodores following a promotion order released by Malacañang, the PCG announced on Tuesday.

The PCG disclosed that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed the promotion of 15 new commodores in the transmittal paper released by the Office of the President dated 9 December 2022, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin reported to Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista.

The new commodores, under the General Line Officers, are CG Captain Christopher Meniado — PCG District Palawan Commander; CG Captain Dominador Senador — Maritime Safety Services Command Chief of Staff; CG Captain Algier Ricafrente — Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for International Affairs; CG Captain Geronimo Tuvilla — PCG District Northern Mindanao Commander; CG Captain Fideles Sallidao — National Operations Center for Oil Pollution Director; CG Captain Romeo Pulido Jr. — PCG District Eastern Visayas Commander; and CG Captain Rejard Marfe — PCG District BARMM Commander.

Also promoted to commodore were CG Captain Geoffrey Espaldon — Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Logistics; CG Captain Prudencio Patricio Jr. — Coast Guard Infrastructure Development Service Commander; CG Captain Jay Tristan Tarriela — Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Human Resource Management; CG Captain Vincent Bingbong Fiesta — PCG District Northeastern Luzon Commander Technical Line Officers; CG Captain Fedelyn Santos — Leadership and Doctrine Development Command Director; CG Captain Alexis Calderon — Coast Guard Medical Service Commander; CG Captain Lysamyra Marie Gavan — Coast Guard Nursing Service Commander; and CG Captain Lowie Palines — Coast Guard Ecumenical Chaplain Service Commander.

The PCG is now coordinating with the Office of the President and the Office of the DoTr Secretary for the oath-taking ceremony of the newly promoted Coast Guard one-star generals.
