Jodi Sta. Maria hopes that Labyu With An Accent won't be the last time she'll be working with Coco Martin as a director.
"We're both actors. But I would like to experience him this time as a director," she said.
Martin also serves as the film's scriptwriter and lead actor.
"Nakaka-amaze lang because not everybody can do that," Sta. Maria added.
Labyu With An Accent, produced by Star Cinema, follows the story of Trisha who left the country when she was a teenager to live in the US. After crossing paths with Gabo who works multiple jobs to make ends meet, an unfortunate incident happens that forces her to return to the Philippines.
The upcoming romantic-comedy movie is one of the two Star Cinema entries that will be part of the Metro Manila Film Festival. The other is Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi's Partners in Crime.
"I just knew that this was going to be fun. I'm thankful that direk Coco thought of me to be part of this project. Nakaka-miss gumawa ng something light such as romcom as I have been doing drama for the past few years," Sta. Maria said.
Labyu With An Accent is her latest project following the success of The Broken Marriage Vow.
With Sta. Maria and Martin on the film are John Medina, Nova Villa, Rochelle Pangilinan, Nash Aguas, Nikki Valdez, and Joross Gamboa.
