President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. is so far satisfied with the performance of the temporary chiefs of different agencies, foremost of which are the Health and Defense departments.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Kadiwa ng Pasko caravan in Quezon City on Thursday, Marcos said he is not keen on appointing Secretaries for Health and Defense since officers-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire and Jose Faustino Jr. are performing well.
The Chief Executive asked the public to be "patient" as he has yet to complete his Cabinet.
"We just go through the process. We have yet to nominate a DoH (Department of Health) Secretary. Usec. Vergeire is doing a fine job," Marcos said.
He added: "We are still not out of the pandemic. So we have to continue to be careful… I am happy with the situation as it is now. We'll see. These things are revisited, especially every year at the end of the first year."
Marcos added that he is also satisfied with the performance of the Department of National Defense, which is currently being led by Faustino.
He said: "The job that needs to be done gets done."
"I don't think that's a secret to anyone that at the end of the first year, the other candidates, they will now join the mix of possible nominees," he added.
In an interview in Los Baños, Laguna earlier this week, the President was asked if he would appoint a secretary to the Department of Agriculture.
The President, who concurrently holds the agriculture portfolio, said he has a timetable at the DA, and there are certain things that he would like to achieve before leaving the department.
Names are being considered to head the agriculture department, Marcos said.
Hopefully, when the time is right, he could make a nomination for a DA chief.
Marcos has yet to appoint a Press Secretary and Presidential spokesperson.
