The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has met with officials of water concessionaires Maynilad and Manila Water to discuss their projects that have resulted in road diggings.
Amid the moratorium on road projects this holiday season, MMDA acting chairman Romando Artes discussed the concessionaires' projects that had proven to be irritants to motorists and commuters.
The MMDA also sought support from the two firms in providing water for the plants maintained by the agency on main streets.
Artes said the temporary suspension of all excavation activities beginning midnight of 14 November up to midnight of 6 January 2023 includes road reblocking works, pipe laying, road upgrading, and all other excavation activities.
Roadworks not covered by the moratorium are flagship projects, bridge repair and construction, flood interceptor catchment projects, asphalt overlaying, sidewalk and drainage improvements, emergency repair of leaks, and new water and electrical service undertakings.
