Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo and members of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, on Monday met with representatives of the International Development Law Organization, led by Country Manager Siavash Rahbari, to discuss ways how to realize the objectives of the Court's Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022-2027.
The SPJI is the Philippine Judiciary's blueprint for action in the next five years.
Emphasizing its continuity and sustainability to the IDLO representatives, the Chief Justice said: "The SPJI offers a coherent set of reforms anchored on four core principles: Timely and Fair Justice,
Transparent and Accountable Justice, Equal and Inclusive Justice, and Technologically Adaptive Management — and aimed at three critical outcomes — Efficiency, Innovation, and Access.
"In all these, our overarching goal is to deliver responsive and real-time justice," he said, pointing out that these ideals of the Judiciary align squarely with IDLO's own, and that he looks forward to a collaborative effort between the Court and IDLO.
Rahbari, who was present at the formal launch of the SPJI last 14 October expressed enthusiasm for the exchange of ideas and the Court's willingness to collaborate to ensure that its reform efforts are sustained, given that access to justice as well as equality and inclusion are IDLO's impact goals.
IDLO is a non-government organization the vision and mission of which are founded on the notion of rule of law as embodying substantive justice and good governance as well as procedural fairness.
