Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group seized counterfeit apparel items worth P1.3 million and arrested four persons in a raid at a shopping mall in Baclaran, Pasay City on Thursday, 17 November,
CIDG chief Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee identified the suspects as Mansur Seikh and Monir Howlander, both stall managers; and Jenda Cerrudo Perz and Zarrah Haser Omar, store staff, who were caught selling counterfeit clothes by the CIDG Anti-Fraud and Commercial Crimes Unit as part of the agency's flagship campaign Oplan "Megashopper".
The arrested suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the AFCCU office for documentation and disposition.
The suspects will be facing criminal complaints for violation of RA 8293 (Intellectual Property Rights) before the city prosecutor's office of Parañaque City.
Lee cautioned the public against buying counterfeit goods. "Pinaalahanan din natin ang publiko na huwag tangkilikin ang ganitong mga uri ng produkto," he said.
