
Authorities reported that at least 13 members of the New People's Army's Milisyang Bayan of Sinag 1 surrendered at a command post on Friday in Barangay San Marcelino in Taysan town.
The 13 insurgents were believed to be members of a group led by a certain Junalice Isita.
Police said the two of the surrenderees are women aged 33 and 36 and the rest are men aged 21 to 68 years old.
In other developments, police arrested on Saturday an alleged NPA rebel in Calatagan, Batangas.
The Batangas police said a team of operatives, armed with an arrest warrant, raided the safehouse of Elison Agnes in Barangay Balitoc.
The suspect was facing charges of illegal possession of a firearms and explosives before the Regional Trial Court-Branch 10 in Balayan, Batangas.
The police said Agnes was a member of an NPA unit that used to operate in the Southern Tagalog region.
