The National Capital Region Police Office assured on Wednesday that its forces, resources and inter-agency collaborative support are all set for the commencement of the 27th Association of Southeast Asian Nations Labor Ministers' Meeting and Related Meetings which the country is hosting.
NCRPO chief P/Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo disclosed that at least 800 personnel will be deployed along with other agencies and force multipliers to secure peace and order in the summit slated on 25 to 29 October 2022.
"This is to ensure there will be no untoward incident to happen or any attempt to disrupt the peaceful and orderly conduct of the event," Estomo said.
The NCRPO chief said that while there are currently no known plans or movements from the insurgents or any other terrorist organizations that could pose an immediate threat to ALMM, they will not rule out the potential of an attack from these dangerous organizations.
He added that the police force has ironed out contingency plans ready in anticipation of any unexpected event that may happen as some of the delegates are expected to arrive.
Labor officials from China, Japan and South Korea are also expected to attend.
"We have already laid out our emergency plans and assessed all possible threats, risks and unexpected eventualities that may crop up," Estomo said.
"Our unified goal is to provide the ASEAN Labor Ministers and participants with a safest and convenient venue, billet, area, tours and route during their stay in Metro Manila and we guarantee that our police officers are seen, felt, and performing tasks extraordinarily in order for us to gain the trust and appreciation of the delegates while they are in our country," he added.
Labor ministers and senior labor officials from the 10-member states of ASEAN are expected to attend this year's 27th ALMM and Related Meetings which includes Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.
Officials from China, Japan and South Korea are also expected to attend.
