Video Editing for Dancers, a hands-on online workshop that aims to guide dancers with shooting tricks and post-production essentials, is now open for registration.
The webinar gathers young movers and aspiring filmmakers in a discussion on pandemic dance filmmaking and its trajectory as the world opens up amid Covid-19. It provides a platform to exchange ideas, expand networks, sharpen organizational skills, and deepen the inquiry about the future of the art form today.
The lecture will be facilitated by Experimental Dance and Marahuyo Lab Creatives head Xyron Bercilla, who introduces the fundamentals of videography. He walks the participants into the whole production process, from the functions of the tools, the conceptualization of timeline, program panels and sequences to the actual manipulation of the clips.
He is set to impart tips to guide participants on how to better portray the performance with the use of multi-camera editing, slow motion and time-lapse, as well as a few tricks in cuts, ripple and rolling, slip, slide, lift, and extract.
Hosted by the Dance Program of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde-School of Arts, Culture, and Performance, the workshop is moderated by Dance chairperson Nina Anonas-De Santos, ACBE, whose professional portfolio includes soloist and principal credits at Ballet Philippines and Manila Metropolis Ballet. She has likewise worked with the Junge Ballett Compagnie as well as featured performances at Billie Forsythe's Ballett Frankfurt.
The webinar is free and open to the public. It will be conducted online via Zoom on 21 October, 5:30 p.m. Interested participants may register through bit.ly/BPADVideoEditingForDancers.
