It appears now that either the information peddled to the public by the Press Secretary as a confirmation of the statement of the former ES of him continuing as Presidential Chief of Staff is a conspiracy of the two to preempt the President from making a contrary position on the matter.
An unimpeachable source has confirmed that the ignominious fall from grace and power of the former Executive Secretary is complete. Not only has his cunning craftsmanship of granting himself enormous power greater than what he had previously exercised as the primus inter pares of the Cabinet has been thumbed down, but even the position of Presidential Chief of Staff deviously designed by him for himself to remain still within the inner circle of the President despite his resignation as ES, has been axed.
The announcement of the reckless and irresponsible voice coming from across the Pasig River that Administrative Order No. 1 creating the office of the Chief of Staff of the President, has been signed and that the erstwhile "Little President" has been appointed as the Presidential Chief of Staff appears now to be false, as false as her declaration that the Sugar Order No. 4 issued by resigned DA Undersecretary and the former members of the Sugar Regulatory Administration, is illegal and without the prior knowledge of the ex-ES.
So is the statement of the latter following his resignation that he would continue to serve the President as his Chief of Staff untrue as well.
It appears now that either the information peddled to the public by the Press Secretary as a confirmation of the statement of the former ES of him continuing as Presidential Chief of Staff is a conspiracy of the two to preempt the President from making a contrary position on the matter. It may be that the appointing power saw through the shrewd scheme and realized that the continued stay of one of his trusted alter egos, whose short stint has created disgraceful controversies and ruffled, nay offended, political backers who only wanted him to succeed in his presidency, is eroding the political capital he earned from his overwhelming victory in the last elections, and responding to the clamor from well-meaning quarters to disattach him completely from Malacañang, finally decided to let him go.
Not only is the banishment of his former spokesperson and campaign manager politically correct, but it is also a wise decision as well.
Resurrecting the defunct Office of Chief of Staff of the President and putting him at the helm would have given President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s critics and detractors formidable ammunition to disparage him and his administration for going against his own policy.
Should that come to pass, the Marcos presidency which may have commenced to a rocky start owing to the dizzying heights of power that went to the heads of at least two Cabinet members is now on its way to fulfilling its promise and commitment to not only follow through the radical changes in the social and economic fields of our society,
commenced boldly and aggressively by former President Rodrigo R. Duterte, but improve on them, and leave a lasting legacy that will benefit all Filipinos.
