Full circle in song: Ice Seguerra breathes new life into an OPM classic

A love song that has quietly lived in the hearts of Filipinos for a generation is finding its voice again—this time, shaped by time, memory, and deeper meaning.

Twenty-five years after it first became a staple in weddings, proposals, and life’s most intimate milestones, Ice Seguerra returns to “Pagdating ng Panahon” with a renewed sense of purpose. The beloved ballad is set to be reintroduced to audiences through a newly recorded version, arriving on streaming platforms on April 20—marking not just an anniversary, but a full-circle moment in the artist’s journey.

The milestone is underscored by a meaningful reunion with Vicor Music Corporation, the very label that helped bring the song to life at the turn of the millennium. Alongside producer Liza Diño and Fire and Ice Music, the collaboration signals both a tribute to the past and a bridge to a new generation of listeners.

For Seguerra, revisiting the track is more than a musical decision—it is a deeply personal reckoning with time and transformation.

“Recording ‘Pagdating ng Panahon’ 25 years ago was already special, but I never imagined how deeply it would become part of people’s lives,” Seguerra shared. “Over the years, I’ve heard countless stories of how the song became part of weddings, proposals, and even moments of healing. To revisit it now, with Vicor once again, feels like coming full circle.”

Since its original release in the early 2000s, the song has transcended its status as a hit, evolving into a cultural touchstone. Its lyrics and melody have been passed from one generation to the next, often tied to deeply personal memories—quiet first dances, long-awaited reunions, and promises kept over time.

But what makes this new version distinct is not just its sound—it is the perspective behind it.

“The meaning of the song changes as you grow,” Seguerra reflected. “When I first recorded it, I was singing about hope and love in a very youthful way. Now, after everything life has taught me, the emotions feel deeper and more layered. Revisiting it now gives me the chance to honor the song and the people who made it part of their stories.”

That emotional evolution is at the heart of the reimagining—an interpretation shaped by lived experience, carrying with it the weight of years and the quiet wisdom that comes with them.

For Diño, the project is both a celebration and a responsibility. As a producer, she recognizes the rare space the song occupies in Filipino consciousness.

“‘Pagdating ng Panahon’ has become part of the emotional soundtrack of many Filipinos’ lives,” Diño said. “As a producer, it’s rare to work on a piece of music that continues to resonate this deeply across generations.”

She also emphasized the significance of reconnecting with Vicor, framing the partnership as a continuation of the song’s original story.

“Vicor was part of the song’s beginning, and it felt right that they would also be part of this new chapter,” she added. “This collaboration is about honoring the history of the song while also making sure it continues to reach new audiences.”

In an era dominated by fast-moving trends and fleeting hits, the return of “Pagdating ng Panahon” stands as a reminder of music’s enduring power—the kind that lingers, evolves, and finds new meaning with time.

For Seguerra, however, the milestone is grounded in something simpler: gratitude.

“I’m thankful that after 25 years, people are still listening, still singing, and still finding themselves in this song,” Seguerra said. “That’s something I will never take for granted.”

As the song begins its next chapter, it carries with it not just nostalgia, but a renewed invitation—to feel, to remember, and to believe that some stories, like some songs, never really end.
