Today marks the second day for aspiring candidates in the 2025 national and local elections (#Halalan2025) to file their certificates of candidacy (COCs) with the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
For Senate candidates and party-lists, papers must be filed at the Comelec office in Manila Hotel, while local bets must head to their respective local Comelec offices to file.
The period for COC filing is between 1-8 October, 2024.

12:14 PM - Magdalo Party-list, led by its first nominee Gary Alejano, files their papers around lunch time on Wednesday.
It failed to win a seat in the House of Representatives in 2022 for the first time since 2013.

11:27 AM - Senatorial aspirant Eric Abuyen Negapatan prays before delivering his statement at Manila Hotel.
Negapatan claims he was adopted by former president Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr.'s mother, Josefa Edralin Marcos, who left him an inheritance.

10:55 AM - Caloocan City Mayor Along Malapitan and Vice Mayor Karina Teh file their COCs, both seeking re-election.
They were accompanied by district reps. Oca Malapitan and Dean Asistio, who are also both re-entering the political ring.

Las Piñas Councilor Mark Anthony Santos announced on Tuesday that he will face billionaire Senator Cynthia Villar for the city’s lone congressional seat. Villar will end her term as senator on 30 June, 2025.
“I’d rather die fighting than withdrawing from the race,” said Santos, the top councilor from the city’s District 1, adding that he will not back down, even though his opponent is the richest individual and politician in the country.

Victoriano Inte, the first Certificate of Candidacy (COC) filer on day 2, 2 October, expresses his desire to join the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
“Because of his good administration, that’s why I want to join to fulfill progressive and productive government,” said Inte, who previously ran for president in the 2022 elections.
