Nissan Philippines has introduced the Navara Pro Plug-in Hybrid, its first pickup here with a rechargeable battery and gasoline engine. Launched on 6 November, the new model is offered in VL and LE 4x4 variants, with introductory prices starting at P2.448 million.

It offers short electric-only trips without sacrificing a conventional fuel tank or the four-wheel-drive hardware associated with the Navara name.

Its powertrain pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor and a 20.24-kWh battery. The engine produces 143 PS and 220 Nm of torque, while the motor delivers 212 PS and 350 Nm. Power passes through a four-speed dedicated hybrid transmission.

EXTERIOR design of the new Nissan Navara Pro Plug-in Hybrid includes a three-slot LED front lighting pattern inspired by the earlier D21 pickup.

Nissan claims up to 75 kilometers of electric-only driving under the NEDC test cycle. A separate local test by the Automobile Association of the Philippines recorded up to 1,150 kilometers with a full battery and a full 67-liter fuel tank. Actual distance will depend on how and where drivers use the pickup.

The battery can be charged from 20 to 100 percent in about three hours through a Type 2 AC connection, according to Nissan. Drivers can choose electric and hybrid driving modes, as well as Performance and Snow settings. The four-wheel-drive system offers 2H, automatic 4WD, 4H and 4L. The LE also comes with an electronic rear differential lock.

The ladder-frame pickup has 232 mm of ground clearance and a rated water-wading depth of 700 mm. Nissan quotes a payload of up to 865 kilograms and a towing capacity of 3,500 kilograms.

Its cargo bed has an electronic tonneau cover and power tailgate, along with storage compartments. Two 220-volt sockets allow owners to draw electricity from the battery for compatible tools or other equipment.

Its front end also has a three-slot LED light pattern that Nissan traces to the older D21 pickup.

The Navara Pro PHEV measures 5,494 mm long and 1,960 mm wide, with a 3,300-mm wheelbase. It uses independent double-wishbone front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension. Both variants have 18-inch alloy wheels, while the LE adds retractable running boards.

Cabin features include a 14.6-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a 10-inch digital instrument display.

The pickup also gets dual-zone climate control and a ventilated wireless charging pad. Rear doors open to 90 degrees, and the rear seats can fold or flip up to make room for cargo.

The LE has a 12-speaker Focal audio system and a heated and ventilated driver’s seat. The VL uses a six-speaker system. Safety equipment includes forward collision warning, emergency braking, intelligent cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic high beams and hill descent control.

The VL carries a regular price of P2,498,000, reduced to P2,448,000 for the launch. The LE costs P2,698,000, with an introductory price of P2,648,000.

Both packages include a home wall charger and a three-year MyNISSAN Connect subscription. The connected service lets owners check vehicle information and charging status through their phones.

Four exterior colors are offered, including Pearl White, Obsidian Black Pearl, Stardust Metallic Gray and Retro Yellow Pearl.
