Meralco executive vice president and chief operating officer Ronnie L. Aperocho has been named an honorary fellow by the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (AFEO) in recognition of his contributions to the engineering profession and his valuable service to the engineering community in Southeast Asia.

Aperocho was among the Filipino awardees who were conferred the prestigious honor during the 44th Conference of AFEO held in Bandung, Indonesia on 22 October 2026.

Distinguished persons of exemplary character

The AFEO Honorary Fellowship is awarded to distinguished persons of exemplary character who have rendered outstanding and meritorious services to the engineering profession and/or the ASEAN, and who embody greatness of spirit, integrity and devotion in service to Southeast Asia.

“Being named an honorary fellow of AFEO is a humbling recognition of the continuous pursuit for engineering excellence that contributes to development not just in the Philippines, but across Southeast Asia,” Aperocho said.

“I share this honor with other Filipino engineers who continue to innovate, uphold the highest standards of our profession, and advance service to society,” he added.

Championed operation excellence in Meralco

Aperocho, who topped the 1991 Registered Electrical Engineering Licensure Examination, has consistently driven innovation and championed operational excellence in Meralco — the largest distribution utility in the Philippines.

His professional contributions to the engineering profession have also been recognized by the Professional Regulation Commission, which named him Outstanding Professional of the Year in the field of Electrical Engineering in 2024.
