LPGA Q-Series: Dottie leads Phl campaign
‘It’s a long week, so you take confidence from this, but you’ve got to keep your foot on the pedal.’

Dottie Ardina paced the Filipina campaign with an even-par 72 as four Filipinas opened their bid for LPGA Tour playing status in the 2026 LPGA Q-Series Stage 2 at Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Florida, on Tuesday.
Ardina put together a steady opening round to finish tied for 40th, six strokes behind American co-leaders Brooke Biermann and Camille Boyd, who both fired bogey-free 6-under 66s.
With 198 players competing for a place in the Final Qualifying Stage in Mobile, Alabama, Ardina positioned herself within striking distance of the top 55 and ties who will advance to the next phase.
Bianca Pagdanganan struggled to find her rhythm, opening with a 75 to settle at joint 112th, while Tomita Arejola carded a 77 for joint 145th. Abby Arevalo had the toughest start among the Filipinas, turning in an 81 to stand at joint 185th.
The challenging conditions, particularly the wind, made scoring difficult across the field, putting a premium on accuracy and course management.
Ardina’s even-par effort gave the Philippines its strongest opening position, but she will need another solid performance in the succeeding rounds to strengthen her chances of reaching the final stage.
Biermann, coming off her rookie season on the Epson Tour, made the most of the three-week break before the competition, producing a bogey-free round that included a birdie on the seventh after hitting her approach from the rough to within a couple of feet.
“The three-week period really was nice. It was three extra weeks to rest. I still practiced and everything, but I took a little bit of time off when I got back, and I think it was pretty beneficial for me,” Biermann said.
She added that difficult playing conditions helped sharpen her concentration.
“I think the more difficult conditions are sometimes a little better for me. It makes me focus a little more,” she said. “It’s a long week, so you take confidence from this, but you’ve got to keep your foot on the pedal.”
Boyd matched Biermann’s 66, drawing confidence from her experience as an LPGA Tour rookie.
New Zealand’s Amelia Garvey was alone in third place after a 67, highlighted by an eagle. Hong Kong’s Arianna Lau, an amateur, emerged as the leading non-professional after posting a bogey-free round.
The second round begins Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. local time.
The Stage 2 qualifiers will advance to the Final Qualifying Stage, where LPGA Tour membership and playing privileges for the 2027 season will be at stake.
