Reigning International Boxing Federation (IBF) minimumweight champion Pedro Taduran insists he is not taking his mandatory Spanish challenger lightly as his training intensifies in Las Vegas.

Taduran makes the fourth defense of the IBF 105-pound crown against undefeated Brandon Moreno on 7 November at the Kiva Auditorium in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

“I am not taking my opponents for granted because they are motivated and driven to take the title away from me,” Taduran told DAILY TRIBUNE from his Sin City training camp on Saturday.

Moreno, though relatively unknown, holds a 16-0-0 win-loss-draw record with five knockouts.

He assumed the role of mandatory contender as Chinese Zhu Dianxing is embroiled in a problem with his management team.

The IBF just forwarded a letter to the parties involved approving the Taduran-Moreno showdown.

Meanwhile, Taduran’s training sessions at the Knucklehead Boxing facility is being supervised by a few people who enjoy the trust and confidence of American dealmaker Sean Gibbons, who brought Taduran to America last Wednesday.

Soon, Taduran’s lead trainer Carl Penalosa will join him as his interview at the US Embassy in Manila is taking place this Tuesday.
