PhilHealth disburses P7.4-B YAKAP health claims

The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) has processed and disbursed nearly 100 percent of all claims filed under its nationwide preventative healthcare initiative, state health officials reported.
As of 7 October, PhilHealth has paid P7.44 billion in claims under the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP), representing 98.37 percent of all submissions received nationwide.
The total disbursements include P5.52 billion paid to government-run medical facilities and P1.92 billion paid to accredited private health clinics.
PhilHealth’s YAKAP initiative is designed to provide primary healthcare services, routine health monitoring, early disease detection, and maintenance medications to prevent chronic illnesses and reduce emergency hospital admissions.
“Use the benefits provided to you to ensure that you stay healthy and avoid illness,” PhilHealth said as it urges members to register at participating clinics.
Under the program, accredited primary care providers track the health status of registered members, offering early diagnostic screening and prescription drugs to manage medical conditions before they require hospitalization.
