The concrete-and-steel expanse of the HOMEBASE Garage in Banawe was recast into a high-concept sartorial sanctuary last 3 to 4 October, as design vanguard Construction Layers staged a masterful, multidisciplinary showcase.

The two-day affair served as an exclusive preview of the brand’s forthcoming feature in the global pages of Design Anthology. Founders CP Garcia and Kendrick Cay orchestrated a visual dialogue, flanking their current collection with rare archival pieces and an ultra-exclusive “Edition of One” release.

The brand’s evolving narrative was literally written on the architecture, with excerpted prose from the upcoming publication mapped across the venue’s stark glass facades — a brilliant manifestation of fashion, space and print intersecting.

The event’s cerebral anchor, a roundtable aptly titled “Building, In Process” and moderated by Toch Barreiro, united Garcia and Cay with HOMEBASE’s Choy Calaquian and Spruce’s Ric Gindap to dissect the gritty realities and artistic impulses driving their respective practices.

The industrial minimalist backdrop hummed with creative synergy, drawing an elite vanguard of tastemakers including Purveyr’s Marvin Conanan, Design Anthology contributor Sheryl Songsong, and culinary innovators Bryan and Maxine Kong of NowNow. Amplifying the sensory experience, Hatch & Hoolman curated a post-war-inspired installation paired with a bespoke canapé menu. As Design Anthology prepares to hit the shelves at Spruce, this momentous gathering beautifully celebrated Construction Layers’ debut on the international design stage, surrounded by the precise creative community that fuels its trajectory.
