The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has relieved its Police Clearance Section chief while investigating a viral social media post alleging that frontline clearance services were halted at City Hall on Monday.

City police officials announced Wednesday that the section chief was reassigned pending the outcome of an administrative inquiry into the incident.

“The QCPD takes these concerns seriously and is undertaking appropriate measures to establish the facts surrounding the incident,” the police district said in a statement.

Initial transaction records showed that police clearance processing continued during the timeframe cited in the social media post under an alternate lunch-break rotation, police officials said.

The rotation policy is designed to maintain uninterrupted frontline processing in compliance with Republic Act 11032, or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018.

Police officials stressed that the administrative relief of the section chief was ordered without prejudice to the final findings of the investigation.

“Pending the outcome of the investigation, the Chief of the Police Clearance Section shall be relieved from the current assignment as an administrative measure, without prejudice to the determination of any administrative liability,” the police statement read.

“Any personnel found to have violated applicable laws, rules, or regulations shall be dealt with in accordance with due process,” it added.

The QCPD urged the individual who published the viral complaint to submit formal statements and supporting evidence to assist investigators in evaluating the event.
