VinFast provides EV fleet for ASEAN energy talks

VinFast will deploy 11 VF MPV 7 electric vehicles as official transport for delegates from ASEAN’s Dialogue Partners during the 44th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM44) and its associated meetings from 5 to 8 October.
The Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer is the official mobility partner of this year’s gathering, which will bring energy ministers and senior government officials from Southeast Asia together with representatives of partner countries and international organizations.
The deployment will put VinFast’s seven-seat electric MPV into service at a regional event where renewable energy, energy security and the transition away from fossil fuels will be among the main subjects of discussion.
ASEAN’s annual energy meeting serves as the region’s principal ministerial platform for cooperation on energy policies. It also provides an opportunity for member countries to discuss common concerns over electricity demand, infrastructure development and access to cleaner energy sources.
This year’s discussions will cover improvements in energy efficiency and closer links between national energy systems. Officials are also expected to address investment requirements and emerging technologies that could help Southeast Asian countries meet their future energy needs.
VinFast introduced the VF MPV 7 in the Philippines in May 2026 as a family vehicle with three rows of seats and room for seven occupants.
The model carries a 60.13-kilowatt-hour battery and has a claimed driving distance of up to 450 kilometers on a full charge under the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) standard. Actual distance can vary according to traffic conditions, vehicle load, weather and driving habits.
Its electric motor produces 150 kilowatts of power and 280 Newton-meters of torque.
The cabin is designed to accommodate larger families, particularly households where several generations travel together. Cargo capacity reaches up to 1,240 liters, which provides additional room for luggage and other belongings.
VinFast has not disclosed the specific routes or charging arrangements for the 11 vehicles assigned to the ASEAN meetings.
Apart from providing transportation, VinFast will participate in the ASEAN Energy Business Forum, where representatives of government and industry will discuss potential solutions to the region’s energy challenges.
The forum will cover cooperation on cleaner energy technologies and investments needed to support the transition toward more sustainable energy systems.
VinFast’s participation comes as the manufacturer expands its operations across Southeast Asia, where electric vehicle adoption continues to depend on vehicle affordability, charging availability and after-sales support.
In the Philippines, the company has been developing its dealership and service network to support its expanding electric vehicle lineup.
VinFast, a subsidiary of Vietnam’s Vingroup, manufactures electric passenger vehicles and other electric transport products, including motorcycles and buses.
The ASEAN deployment gives the VF MPV 7 an opportunity to serve an official regional event several months after its Philippine introduction. It also places electric passenger transport alongside discussions on how the region intends to meet its growing demand for energy.
