‘Piranesi’ gets stage adaptation


Susanna Clarke’s acclaimed fantasy novel Piranesi is getting a stage adaptation from the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), with the production set to premiere in 2027.
The theatrical version will be adapted by Sami Ibrahim and directed by Ned Bennett, bringing Clarke’s mysterious and atmospheric world from the page to the stage.
The play will run from 3 July to 21 August 2027 at the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon. Public ticket sales will open on 21 October.
Released in 2020, Piranesi follows a man living inside an endless house filled with statues, hidden passages and strange mysteries. The novel became a global literary success, earning praise for its imaginative storytelling and unique fantasy setting.
