A director and filmmaker from Toronto, Canada has finally learned why he had a green spot on his left earlobe.

Matt Aitia, 29, told People that the spot appeared after an ear stud was removed due to bleeding and pain two days after putting it in 2006, when he was 10.

Doctors that he consulted over the years told him the discoloration was built-up scar tissue, People reports. Aitia didn’t want cosmetic surgery to remove it because of the cost and because he dreaded the procedure.

When Aitia went for a dental cleaning this year, he was X-rayed and the screen finally revealed the answer to his “green ear.” The X-ray technician showed him the image of a backing of an earring.

“At that moment I was both shocked and relieved,” he told People.

After sharing the image and the story behind it on Instagram, it went viral. He has scheduled its surgical removal.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old boy in India became the first ever case of a rare eye condition.

The anonymous teen patient first experienced painless swelling on his left upper eyelid, which lasted for a few months, New York Post (NYP) reports.

He later saw two sharp, white projections poking out in the small space between his eyelid and eyebrow, according to NYP.

Through a CT scan, the projections were identified as mature canine teeth. Doctors then surgically removed them.

The case of ectopic teeth was the subject of a study co-authored by Dr. Meghana Tanwar.

There have been cases of teeth growing in places other than the mouth, such as in the nasal cavity, under the eye, in the nostrils, and in the maxillary sinus, which is located inside the cheekbone, NYP reports.

But Tanwar said the teeth in the teen’s upper eye socket was the only one of its kind.
