The country’s Unified 911 emergency hotline handled 12.7 million calls nationwide from January to August 2026, recording a reported 96.15 percent efficiency rate, according to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The DILG said it was expanding emergency response assets and strengthening personnel to sustain the system’s performance and provide faster assistance during emergencies.
As part of the rollout, 163 Unified 911 emergency response motorcycles were recently turned over to local government units and regional police offices in Regions V, VI and VIII and the National Capital Region. The motorcycles are intended to improve responder mobility in congested and hard-to-reach areas.
The DILG also intensified training for Emergency 911 National Call Center personnel, with telecommunicators and team leaders undergoing instruction on standardized call handling, dispatch coordination and emergency response.
The calls received during the period involved requests for police assistance, fire suppression, ambulance services, search and rescue and other emergency services.
In Caloocan City, responders were dispatched within four minutes after a caller reported a bomb explosion, allowing an injured person to be taken to the nearest hospital.
In Mangatarem, Pangasinan, municipal and barangay rescue teams responded to a report of a family stranded on the roof of their home as floodwaters rose. The family was evacuated and brought to an evacuation center.
The DILG said it would continue investing in emergency response equipment and personnel training while strengthening coordination among LGUs, police, fire, rescue and other emergency units.
