Design and art enthusiasts gathered at the Rustan’s Home floor for the launch of Art Series, an afternoon of artistry, inspiration and discovery. Now on its second year, the event presented a curated collection of objects from prestigious Maisons around the world, each conceived to delight, inspire and enrich contemporary living.
Drawing unanimous praise from the design-savvy crowd was Christofle’s exceptional Carrousel flatware collection — a true showstopper that elevates everyday cutlery into an art form. Designed by Parisian jewelry designer Charlotte Chesnais, the collection brings together Christofle’s traditional goldsmithing expertise with the fluid language of contemporary jewelry and sculpture.
Among the other highlights was Lalique’s playful Teddy Air, a series of contemporary neo-pop crystal bear sculptures rendered in candy-colored hues. Lladró, meanwhile, reimagined iconic cartoon characters in its signature handcrafted porcelain, including the archetypal comic-book superhero Superman and the ever-popular Japanese characters Pikachu and the delightfully kawaii Eevee, through its collaboration with Pokémon. Such whimsical creations appeal not only to longtime collectors but also to a new generation of design and art enthusiasts.
Bridging the traditional art of Vietnamese lacquer with contemporary design, the House of Hanoia presented a striking collection of sculptural lacquer vases in bold colors, designed by Pierre Charrié. Their expressive forms offered a fresh interpretation of a centuries-old craft.
Also featured were special edition collectible coffee-table books from TASCHEN, bringing the worlds of art, photography, fashion, and design into the home.
Rounding out the exhibition was a selection of paintings by local artists Rachel Le Roux, Tara Soriano and Caress Banson, adding a distinctly local perspective to the international mix of collectible design and decorative arts.
Whether expressed through objects, functional design, or artworks that tell a story, the thoughtfully curated pieces at Rustan’s Home Art Series illustrated the many ways art can become part of everyday living. The well-attended event underscored the increasingly fluid dialogue between art and interiors, where sculptural décor, functional objects and collectible creations become expressions of personal style — and transform the home into a more artful space.
