Superkit Tour winds up at Pradera Verde

LUBAO, Pampanga — The country’s leading junior golfers converge at Pradera Verde Golf and Country Club on Saturday for the sixth and final leg of the Superkit Junior Elite Golf Tour, setting the stage for a crucial day of competition on the eve of the national finals.

The 18-hole tournament serves as the last stop in the six-leg nationwide series and gives the young players one final opportunity to test their games against a strong national field before returning to the same Lubao layout the following day for the Superkit National Finals.

More than another tournament on the calendar, the Pradera Verde leg represents the culmination of a series designed to give young golfers meaningful competition, valuable Order of Merit points and a pathway toward international exposure.

Rains have made the fairways softer and longer, prompting organizers to adopt the lift, clean and replace rule.

The Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines organized the series with the goal of developing young players at different levels and building a pool of athletes who could eventually represent the country in international competitions.

The 2026 series began in May with back-to-back competitions at Mimosa Golf and Country Club in Clark before moving to Batangas for the third leg and then Mindanao for two rounds at South Pacific Golf and Country Club and Apo Golf and Country Club.

The tour’s Davao swing was particularly significant as it brought a major junior competition outside the traditional centers of Philippine golf, allowing Mindanao players to compete at home against some of the country’s best young talents.

JGFP president Oliver Gan has repeatedly stressed the importance of creating a national platform for junior golfers, with the Superkit series providing a structured progression from grassroots competition to higher-level national and international events.

That pathway will be particularly visible at Pradera Verde.

The top two finishers in each age and gender division from the regular legs earn automatic berths in the national finals, while Order of Merit points accumulated throughout the season provide another route into the championship field. The national finals will award additional points, with the champion, runner-up and the top six players in the final Order of Merit standings earning opportunities to advance to the Superkit International Junior Elite Golf Championship at Mission Hills in Shenzhen, China, in January 2027.

The regular tour features five age brackets — 5-7, 8-9, 10-12, 13-15 and 16-18 — for both boys and girls, creating opportunities for players at different stages of development.

The inaugural Superkit series last year already showed the appetite for a nationwide junior circuit. Its opening event at Vineyard Golf Club in Batangas drew more than 100 young golfers despite heavy rain, with players from different age groups competing under difficult conditions.

This year’s edition has expanded that competitive pathway, attracting more than 170 participants for its opening weekend alone at Mimosa.

Now, Pradera Verde provides the final test before the stakes rise sharply.
