Upperclass cadets at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) are taking their final examinations for the first term of Academic Year 2026–2027 under a revised academic framework that eliminates automatic test exemptions.

The examinations mark the culmination of months of classroom instruction and study. Under previous Academy practice, cadets who achieved high academic standing throughout the term qualified for exemption from final assessments.

The newly implemented policy requires all members of the Cadet Corps to sit for final exams to establish a uniform standard for evaluating retention, critical thinking and subject application.

Academy officials cited that the policy change reinforces academic discipline and consistency, aligning intellectual rigor with the military, physical and character development required of future Armed Forces of the Philippines officers.

Separately, the Academy marked the nationwide kick-off of the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary during a flag-raising ceremony at Fort Del Pilar on 7 September.

The event was observed under the theme “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing, Para sa Bayan.”

During the observance, Honelet Manalang, chief civilian supervisor, led PMA civilian personnel in taking the “Panunumpa ng Lingkod Bayan” pledge to reaffirm their commitment to public service standards. Civilian staff members also participated in singing the “Awit ng Serbisyo Sibil.”

Civilian personnel at PMA provide administrative, academic and logistical support for institutional operations, serving as an integral component of the Academy’s officer training program.
