The Department of Transportation (DoTr) announced Wednesday that government agencies have deployed vehicles to offer free rides to commuters navigating Metro Manila during inclement weather caused by the southwest monsoon.
Free transit routes cover service between Divisoria and Monumento, Kalentong and Pasig, and Lawton and the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange, operating in both directions.
The free transportation service is a joint effort by the Department of Transportation, the Office of the President, the Philippine Coast Guard and the Department of Energy.
“We have deployed vehicle assets of the DoTr to assist our passengers. We also thank the various government agencies that joined us in providing free rides,” Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said.

State weather bureau PAGASA reported that the southwest monsoon, locally known as Habagat, will continue to bring cloudy skies and rainfall across Luzon and the Visayas over the next 24 hours.
