    Positibo ang Malacañang Palace sa rekomendasyon ng Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) na i-ban ang Facebook kasunod ng mga kamakailang insidente ng karahasan sa mga paaralan.

    Sa isang press briefing noong Martes, ika-25 ng Agosto, sinabi ni Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro na sumusuporta ang Malacañang sa mga hakbang laban sa fake news at sa pagpapalakas ng seguridad.

    "Kung hindi magkakaroon ng accountability ang ano mang social media platform at parang nababalewala ang ating mga hiling... laban sa karahasan, laban sa fake news... magandang pag-isipan at pag-aralan kung dapat silang manatili na parte ng ating sistema," aniya.

    Sinabi ni CICC Executive Director Undersecretary Renato "Aboy" Paraiso na ang layunin ng pag-aaral na ito ay upang protektahan ang mga menor de edad laban sa maling impormasyon at online abuse.

    Dahil ang Pilipinas ay kabilang sa mga nangungunang gumagamit ng platform na may humigit-kumulang 95 milyong user, may mga pangamba rin na lumilitaw kaugnay ng kalayaan sa pagpapahayag.

    Ipinagtanggol naman ni Castro na bagama't nariyan pa rin ang mga karapatan, hindi kabilang dito ang pagpapakalat ng fake news.

    "Iba naman po kasi ang fake news. Kung kritiko ka hindi pinagbabawalan. Ang hindi lang naman matatanggap ng Pangulo, ay ang paglaganap ng fake news," paliwanag niya.
