The incoming National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) officer-in-charge warned parents and educators Monday against online violent and nihilistic grooming, following recent campus violence incidents across Metro Manila.

Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano stated that online groomers advocating nihilistic extremism have penetrated the country, urging families to closely monitor children’s internet usage and social media activity.

“Online violent or nihilistic grooming is a reality. It is happening,” Abrahano said. “We need to keep an eye on our children’s online presence.”

Abrahano stressed that early detection, heightened awareness, and active coordination between law enforcement and school communities are crucial to neutralizing online threats before they escalate into physical violence.

Schools must also prepare intervention protocols when red flags emerge, he added.

“The general direction is to prevent it at all cost,” Abrahano said in a radio interview, noting that proactive intervention relies on strong cooperation among parents, teachers and police.

The warning comes as Abrahano formally assumed leadership of the NCRPO on Sunday following a brief tenure as head of Police Regional Office 10 and director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
