REAR passengers get a three-seat bench with blue-and-white upholstery and adjustable headrests in the all-new Nissan Kicks e-Power.

Nissan Philippines will officially launch the all-new Kicks e-Power on 28 August at the Glorietta Palm Drive Activity Center in Makati City.

The public presentation follows the crossover’s preview at the Philippine International Motor Show and the opening of reservations last month.

The Kicks will headline a three-day Nissan Intelligent Mobility Tour, where visitors may inspect the vehicle and take it out for a test drive.

Exterior changes include slimmer LED headlamps and a broader grille. New bumpers and two-tone alloy wheels give the small crossover a sharper appearance, while redesigned LED lamps update the rear.

Changes continue in the cabin. Information released ahead of the launch points to a larger touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The dashboard, center console and upholstery have also been revised. Additional sound insulation is expected to reduce noise and vibration.

The new model will retain Nissan’s e-Power system, which uses a gasoline engine to generate electricity while an electric motor drives the wheels.

This gives the Kicks the immediate response of an electric vehicle without the need to charge it from an external source.

The arrangement differs from a conventional hybrid, where the engine may also send power directly to the wheels.

A Kicks owner still fills the fuel tank as usual, but the electric motor handles propulsion. Nissan says the system combines quick acceleration with lower fuel use.

Nissan’s Philippine product page lists output at 136 PS and 280 Nm of torque. The company has yet to announce the complete local variant range and prices. Those details are expected during the Aug. 28 launch.

The Kicks will also introduce NissanConnect Services to the nameplate in the Philippines. The system links the vehicle to a smartphone and provides functions such as remote engine start and vehicle monitoring.

An updated ProPILOT driver-assistance package is also among the technologies expected for the local model.

Nissan Philippines president Yoshinori Kanazawa said the company is expanding its powertrain range because customers have different needs.

He added that the Glorietta event will give more people a closer look at the Kicks after its PIMS preview.

The Kicks will share the Glorietta display with the Patrol, Terra, Navara and X-Trail e-Power. The recently introduced X-Trail e-Power will be among the vehicles available for test drives during the event.

The vehicle display and test drives will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. throughout the three-day program, which will be open to the public.

The launch will answer the main questions left after the PIMS preview. Nissan is expected to announce the variants, standard equipment and prices that will determine how the new Kicks compares with other electrified crossovers in the market.
