Filipina beauty queen Catriona Gray will no longer be part of the Miss Universe India 2026 coronation night despite initially being invited to join the much-awaited pageant event.
The Miss Universe 2018 titleholder confirmed the development after her management, Cornerstone Entertainment, released an announcement dated August 21 explaining that her planned participation would not push through.
According to the statement, arrangements connected to Catriona’s appearance were unable to satisfy certain requirements, resulting in her withdrawal from the event. No further details were disclosed regarding the conditions involved.
Catriona later shared the announcement on her social media account and expressed disappointment over missing the opportunity to visit India and connect with local pageant supporters.
“So sorry to disappoint the fans. Was so excited to meet the wonderful fans from India and experience their beautiful country for the first time. Hopefully one day soon,” she wrote.
Despite the change in plans, Catriona sent her support to the women competing for the national crown.
“All the best to all the contestants of MU India 2026!” she added.
The cancelled appearance would have given Catriona another opportunity to take part in an international pageant gathering years after her memorable Miss Universe victory in 2018.
For now, her anticipated first experience of India will have to wait, but the former Miss Universe made it clear that she remains hopeful of finally visiting the country in the future.
