Bun gun

The crime of illegal gun possession is getting harder to enforce with today’s technology that can instantly produce a weapon at home.

David Boylett, 62, was sentenced by the Shrewsbury Crown Court in England to four-and-a-half years’ imprisonment on 10 August 2026, for attempting to possess a component part of a prohibited firearm and possessing a firearm and ammunition without a license, the BBC reported.

He was slapped with the charges back in July 2021 after he was arrested at his home in Telford, Shropshire, by National Crime Agency (NCA) officers who found an array of parts for firearms, tools and two 3D printers in the home.

The officers also found piles of documents about converting firearms, making ammunition and using 3D printers, plus a video on his phone showing him 3D printing one of the gun components which was found in his home, BBC reported.

“Boylett was in the process of creating deadly weapons that could have done untold harm to individuals in our communities,” NCA senior investigating officer Niall Conner told BBC.

Meanwhile, the parents of a Georgia first-grader with autism complained about the suspension of their son from Sarah Harp Elementary School in Fayette County in March for pointing “a gun” at a classmate during lunch, Fox News reported.

Kristin and Juan “Ricky” Medina said the school’s strict policy failed to account for the developmental disabilities of their six-year-old son, John, according to Fox News.

John was suspended for biting his sandwich into the shape of a gun and pointing it at a classmate.

The mother questioned the school’s escalation — including using the word “gun” — of the minor action to a suspension, while the father said the punishment shouldn’t have been so severe.

It turned out the child had been suspended by the school 15 times and given two dozen disciplinary actions since 2023, according to Fox News.
