The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) collected more than P2 trillion in the first seven months of 2026, beating its target by P13.53 billion as tax collections continued to rise year on year.
The agency raised P2.003 trillion from January to July, 0.68 percent above its P1.990-trillion goal and 5.4 percent higher than the P1.900 trillion collected during the same period last year.
Already secured 60 percent of collection target
Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza said the agency has already secured about 60 percent of its full-year collection target, citing improved taxpayer compliance and sustained collection efforts across its revenue offices.
The month of July alone generated P358.44 billion, exceeding the monthly target by P22.37 billion, or 6.66 percent. The figure was also P19.41 billion higher than collections in July 2025.
“These results show that better taxpayer service, clearer rules, and effective enforcement can support stronger compliance and collection,” Mendoza said.
He said the BIR will continue pursuing its BIR DARES reform agenda, which includes simplifying tax procedures, expanding digital services, improving taxpayer assistance and strengthening enforcement.
“We will continue helping taxpayers comply correctly and on time, while making sure that taxes properly due are collected fairly and efficiently,” Mendoza said.
