Regine Velasquez shares her story in new documentary

After four decades of shaping the Philippine music industry, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid is preparing to share the story behind the voice that earned her the title of Asia’s Songbird through a full-length documentary slated for release in 2027.

The project, titled SONGBIRD, was announced as part of the celebration of Regine’s 40th anniversary in entertainment. More than a chronicle of her achievements, the film promises a deeply personal account of the milestones, challenges, and defining moments that transformed her into one of the country’s most celebrated performers.

Produced by iMusic Entertainment in collaboration with GOAT Creative Studios, the documentary follows Regine during the preparations for her highly anticipated concert, Finale. Cameras capture not only the demanding rehearsals but also the emotions that come with revisiting a career spanning generations of Filipino music lovers.

A newly released teaser offers a preview of the documentary’s intimate tone. It features rehearsal sessions with longtime musical director Raul Mitra, while Regine candidly admits that even after decades on stage, major performances continue to make her nervous. The footage also blends treasured family memories, childhood photographs, career highlights, and touching moments with husband Ogie Alcasid and their son Nate.

The announcement immediately resonated with fans, many of whom shared emotional reactions online after watching the teaser. Several supporters said they were already moved by the preview alone and predicted the documentary would become an emotional tribute to the singer’s enduring legacy.

The excitement surrounding SONGBIRD comes on the heels of the overwhelming demand for tickets to Finale. The concert’s first performance sold out within minutes, while registration for the complimentary second-night show attracted tens of thousands of fans, underscoring Regine’s remarkable connection with audiences after 40 years in the spotlight.

Finale is scheduled for October 17 and 18 at the Mall of Asia Arena, with Paolo Valenciano directing the show and Raul Mitra serving as musical director. Meanwhile, SONGBIRD is expected to arrive in theaters in 2027, offering audiences a rare behind-the-scenes portrait of one of the Philippines’ most enduring music icons.
