  • The massive People's Ville housing project in Davao City is a solid testament of the sustained progress of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s flagship Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program spearheaded by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD).

On Tuesday, the President and DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling inspected the People's Ville in Barangay Riverside, Calinan District where they interacted with some of the more than 420 family-beneficiaries already occupying units in the condominium development.

During his visit, President Marcos Jr. stressed the administration's progress in the nationwide rollout of the Expanded 4PH which pushes for more inclusive and sustainable housing programs.

In a media interview after the inspection, the President vowed to complete 42 buildings at People's Ville — reaffirming the administration's commitment to building not only houses but complete and livable communities for Filipino families.

The President emphasized that the government is ensuring housing developments are equipped with essential community facilities.

Secretary Aliling said the President's inspection also highlighted the need to further strengthen community facilities within housing developments, like learning and livelihood centers.

But the DHSUD chief added that additional infrastructure in the area will not be limited to schools.

Joining the President and Secretary Aliling during the inspection were Pag-IBIG Fund chief executive officer Marilene Acosta, and Social Housing Finance Corporation president and chief executive officer Federico Laxa.

Developed on a 14.2-hectare property, the housing project is designed to accommodate 7,200 condominium units across 72 five-story residential buildings.

To date, 26 buildings have already been completed, while four additional buildings with 400 units are currently in the advanced stages of construction.

The project has already welcomed 651 member-beneficiaries, while another 1,868 housing applications currently being processed.

The Expanded 4PH Program builds complete and people-centered communities, offering a range of amenities designed to support quality living like swimming pools, basketball courts, parks and playgrounds, nursery homes, a clubhouse, a multi-purpose building, parking spaces, and commercial areas, among others — ensuring a safe, convenient, and sustainable environment for residents.

He added that the administration has expanded the government's flagship housing initiative to provide more opportunities for Filipino families to own affordable homes.
