Bonifacio Global City’s premier retail sanctuary, Mitsukoshi BGC, gracefully ushered in a dual milestone that celebrates both its third anniversary and seven decades of enduring diplomatic harmony between Japan and the Philippines.

Channeling the celestial romance of Tanabata — the revered Star Festival — the successful launch last 16 July transformed the space into a vivid tapestry where meticulous Japanese tradition seamlessly interwove with warm Filipino hospitality.

The afternoon was an exercise in sensory storytelling, punctuated by the resonant, grounding thunder of Taiko drums and the spirited energy of a traditional Mikoshi shrine performance. Guests were further treated to a sharp, contemporary performance by the LIV Dance Academy, bridging historical art forms with modern movement.

The afternoon’s true piece de resistance arrived with the stylish unveiling of Mitsuko, the mall’s iconic Kokeshi doll. Reimagined for the season, she stood adorned in a bespoke ensemble that thoughtfully incorporated the colors of both the Japanese and Philippine flags.

Developed by Federal Land in alliance with Nomura Real Estate and Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings, the venue reaffirmed its position as a vital cultural nexus beyond just a seasoned retail outpost. From the intricate festive details to the shared community spirit, the event proved that when two cultures align under the stars, the result is an unforgettable and monumental celebration of shared heritage and design.
