In ABS-CBN and Netflix’s Someone, Someday, Billy (Kathryn Bernardo), a woman scarred by her past, creates a modern dating app to help women find the right love at the right time. As she brings couples together while navigating the challenges in her own life, she begins to rediscover what love truly means for herself. James Reid stars as Jordan, Billy’s best friend and confidant, while Maja Salvador also joins the cast in the romantic drama.
For the first time in their careers, Bernardo and Reid are sharing the screen, and the actress admitted she knew very little about her leading man before filming began.
“My first impression, the unexpected thing was that he was shy, and I was right. He’s very shy,” Bernardo said during the series’ press conference. “Kasi we’re not common friends, we’re not in common projects together. Wala talaga.”
Bernardo said the unfamiliarity ultimately worked in their favor, allowing their friendship to develop naturally on and off camera.
“Now, I get to know him more, and I’m just curious about him,” she added. “I think nakatulong siya (it helped)… Kasi (because) if you’re too familiar with the person, iba (it’s different). It’s nice to witness that journey during taping.”
Reid, meanwhile, praised Bernardo’s dedication and meticulous approach to her craft.
“Other than being quite talented, I admire how much attention she puts into details, the story. The perfectionism, I super appreciate that with this project,” he said.
He also described Jordan as a man guided by integrity and loyalty, qualities that drew him to the role.
“For me, Jordan is the kind of person who always tries to do the right thing. Always. He has a very strong moral compass,” Reid said. “Jordan is a very honorable character. He’s very loyal, and what I like about him the most is his passion for music.”
The singer-actor is also thrilled that his own music is featured in the series, calling it a milestone after dedicating the past several years to his recording career.
“I’m super honored that my music was able to make it into the show,” he said. “I’ve been focusing on music for the last five, six years, so being able to integrate that into a project of this scale, I’m super honored.”
Reid added that he hopes Someone, Someday will also serve as a platform to introduce Filipino music to international audiences.
“I’d love for people in Southeast Asia and the world to experience more of Filipino music,” he said. “I’m so grateful that we get to showcase that in the show. There are multiple artists who get to perform their original music as part of the storytelling.”
