Vehicle sales among members of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) reached 37,231 units in June, the group’s strongest monthly result so far this year.

The total rose 11 percent from 33,532 units in May. Passenger car sales climbed 20.5 percent to 8,061 units, while commercial vehicle sales increased 8.7 percent to 29,170 units.

CAMPI estimated the wider Philippine market at around 42,000 vehicles for the month, up 18.7 percent from May.

The group expects demand to remain stronger in the second half as new gasoline, diesel and electrified models reach showrooms after their launches at the Philippine International Motor Show.

Sales of gasoline and diesel vehicles grew 10 percent from May, which CAMPI linked to more stable fuel prices. Electrified vehicle sales rose 49.2 percent as supply improved.

Battery electric vehicles, hybrids and plug-in hybrids accounted for 28 percent of estimated industry sales in June, six percentage points higher than in May.

Among CAMPI-TMA members, 6,995 electrified vehicles were sold during the month. Battery electric vehicle sales reached 3,193 units, while plug-in hybrids posted 1,681 units and regular hybrids recorded 2,121 units.

Toyota Motor Philippines remained the top CAMPI-TMA seller with 17,627 units. Mitsubishi Motors Philippines followed with 6,535 units, while Suzuki Philippines, Ford Philippines and Honda Cars Philippines completed the top five.

Despite the June rebound, first-half CAMPI-TMA sales stood at 204,557 units, down 11.4 percent from the same period last year.
