The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), thru its Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Siasi, rescued the distressed vessel M/L SUPER INN in the vicinity waters of Tiyumabal Island in the town of Pandami, Sulu, on 18 July 2026.

According to Station Commander Al-Hafidz T. Bih of Coast Guard Station Western Sulu, the CGSS Siasi received a distress report from Mr. Almujib Asula, Captain of M/L SUPER INN, informing authorities that the motor launch had experienced an engine failure while traveling from Maimbung to Pandami, Sulu.

He added that the motor launch was transporting approximately 1,900 sacks of rice intended as relief assistance for the Municipality of Pandami. To prevent the M/L from drifting toward the shoreline due to strong sea currents, the captain immediately dropped anchor while awaiting assistance.

Upon receipt of the report, CGSS Siasi immediately activated its Search And Rescue (SAR) Team and coordinated with the owner of M/L Fatima Sharifa-1 to conduct the towing operation. Later, the SAR Team departed aboard the rescue vessel and proceeded to the location of the motor launch.

The SAR Team arrived at the scene and immediately commenced the towing operation. The team then safely departed the area while towing M/L SUPER INN toward Pandami, Sulu. The distressed M/L safely arrived at its destination, where the SAR Team conducted an initial investigation and advised the M/L captain to file a Marine Protest.

The successful operation emphasizes the Philippine Coast Guard's steadfast commitment to maritime safety, the protection of lives and property at sea, and the prompt delivery of assistance to M/L in distress.
